No neighbor should be left behind because they cannot get there.

The Morris Transportation Foundation provides rides at little or no cost to neighbors who cannot afford transportation — helping them reach the medical appointments, grocery stores, and jobs their daily lives depend on.

What we do

Three kinds of rides

Transportation is the thread that connects people to health, food, and income. We strengthen that thread with rides for the three trips daily life requires.

Medical rides

To doctor’s appointments, treatment, therapy, and pharmacy pickups — so no one chooses between their health and a ride they cannot afford.

Grocery & essentials rides

To grocery stores, food banks, and markets — so reaching food is never the hardest part of eating.

Employment rides

To interviews, training, and regular shifts — because work is how people build a future, and the ride should never stand in the way.

The problem we see

When you cannot get there, life waits

Missed care

Appointments are skipped and rescheduled. Prescriptions go unfilled. For older adults and people with disabilities, missing a ride can mean missing a treatment.

Empty kitchens

When the nearest grocery store is miles away and no bus line reaches it, shopping becomes an expedition — and food banks are just as far.

Jobs out of reach

Unreliable transportation is one of the most common reasons people miss interviews, lose shifts, or turn down work they are ready for.

Transportation is not a luxury. It is how people reach health, food, and a paycheck.

How it works

How a ride comes together

Ask

A neighbor — or a referring partner like a clinic, food bank, or employer — contacts the Foundation with a transportation need.

Match

We confirm the need and pair it with the best way to get there: a volunteer driver, a partner organization, or a subsidized ride.

Arrive

The rider gets there and gets home, with follow-up when needed — so we know the trip actually happened.

Who we serve

Our neighbors

We serve residents of the Piedmont Triad who need transportation and cannot afford it or cannot arrange it on their own.

Older adults

Neighbors who no longer drive and have no one to call for a ride.

People with disabilities

Neighbors with limited mobility who face barriers with every trip.

Families in hardship

Neighbors forced to choose between a ride and food, medicine, or rent.

Working families

Neighbors without a reliable car, holding onto jobs and keeping appointments.

Get involved

Ride with us

Every dollar becomes a mile. Grants are the backbone of our funding; your gift is the heart of it.

Donate

Give a ride to a neighbor who needs one. Recurring monthly gifts are especially welcome.

Online giving is being set up — a secure donation link will appear here shortly. Until then, volunteering or partnering with us moves a neighbor forward just as surely.

Volunteer

Drive a neighbor, help with ride coordination and intake, or support fundraising.

Partner

Clinics, food banks, workforce programs, employers, and faith communities refer the people they serve.
